Hi friend. We have a new sketch challenge for October and it’s open to everyone for a chance to win $25 to spend in store.
The sketch features a grid pattern, and I have switched around the photo placement a little to accommodate my photos. In fact, I challenged myself to include more photos from a recent event.
I mounted my photo cluster onto patterned papers but rather than adhere them directly to the background, I created a hinge to allow me to lift the photo cluster up to reveal more photos and journaling.
To make the hinge, I simply cut patterned paper and scored down the centre. I adhered oneside to the photo cluster and positioned it onto the background paper. Be sure to align the top of the hinge with the photo cluster (I had initially placed mine further down so when I tried to open the flap it caught on the background).
Once I fixed my hinge issue, I was able to add journaling to the flap. Rather than stick photos underneath as in my original plan, I created a simple pocket to hold photos and ephemera. That way I can store lots of photos behing the main piece.
I was inspired by the banners in one of the photos and created a banner across the top with paper scraps and tucked in ephemera from the embellishment and main kits.
I curled the bottom left hand corner to allow me to tuck fussy-cut flowers underneath.
