LET’S CREATE BANNER STRIPS WITH PATTERNED PAPER | AUGUST 2023 HIP KITS | JANA EUBANK

Hello, friends! I’m Jana Eubank back with a few tips on designing with your Hip Kit! As we cut into our patterned papers throughout the month, we typically end up with several strips of patterned paper. Today’s layout design would be a great way to combine those strips together all on one layout. Watch the video below to see my fourth layout using the August 2023 Hip Kits!

IT’S A LOVELY DAY FOR A PICNIC

I was inspired to create this layout because of the picnic basket and strawberry shortcake die-cuts from the kit. I originally selected the patterned papers to go with my color photos, which had a lot of red in the picnic blankets. As I worked, I decided to change the photos to black and white for a softer look.

I used the Clementine and Azure cardstock for the page base. After layering the patterned paper strips, I used the July Stitching Template (July Embellishment Kit) to add a border around the perimeter of the page. It took me an hour and a half to stitch, but it was relaxing and I LOVE the result!

I had so much FUN working on the embellishment clusters for this layout. I cut the lemon wreath die-cut in half to use in both the top-left and bottom-right clusters, along with the large chipboard citrus slices. The additional icons help to convey the picnic theme of this layout.

I created my longer title using a combination of the gold Foam Alphas and the Foam Phrases from the August Main Kit. I added the picnic basket and shortcake die-cut (fussy-cut from a circular piece) to emphasize the title. So CUTE!

The black and white twine bow at the top of the page balances the bold script title. I also sprinkled gold heart die-cuts around the page to repeat the color of the gold foam alphabet stickers.

I have loved playing with the August 2023 Hip Kits this past month! I have created four layouts and still have so many fun goodies left to work with.

Here’s wishing you a creative and crafty day!
