Hello HKC friends! It’s Anya here again, and I am so excited to share with you my second project I created with the beautiful August 2023 kit! Today I want to share a simple technique, which helps transform a flat flower into a more dimensional one.

I wanted the flowers to be the main focus of decorations here, since this layout tells a story about my little girl who always brings me flowers. Every time we go outside, visit a park, or take her brother to school, she will find me a flower on the way.

To make these flowers, I first die cut them from pink and yellow papers in the Cardstock kit using the Layered Flower and Leaves die set. Next, I used a pair of scissors to cut deeper incisions into the flower, which would let me lift the petals. Using Distress Oxide Inks and a brush, I added shading to these flowers and also lifted and shaped the petals with my fingers.

These Multi Color Adhesive Pearls from the main kit were a perfect finishing touch to each flower. I finished the floral cluster with white die cut leaves and a couple of fussy cut green leaves, from one of the patterned papers in the kit.

I love incorporating die cut pieces into my layouts, and the little honeycomb die is now one of my favorite dies! It’s so delicate and adds a very soft and beautiful addition to any project.

Thank you for visiting HKC blog and I hope you will stop by again soon for more inspiration!

– XOXO, Anya
