Seriously, how is it August already? Let’s ignore that for now, because I have a really FUN page to share with you today. Hi, friends! It’s Jana Eubank. Have you started creating with your July 2023 Hip Kits yet? Today I’m sharing my first layout with the Hip Kit ‘Summer Is Here’ collection and I am in love with the soft, sherbet colors.
My challenge was to design a background using the June 2023 Alphabet Die and stitching. The result is a colorful and cheerful page. Click on the image below to watch!
RELAXING IN PARADISE
When our kids graduate from high school, we let them choose the family vacation for that summer. My son selected a Caribbean cruise and these photos were taken on a beach in Cozumel. (Kinda wishing I was there right now!)
I used the Taylor Alphabet Die (June 2023) along with the July 2023 Cardstock Kit to cut out the word ‘Paradise’ in various colors. I repeated the word over and over on the ‘Chill Blue’ cardstock background (chevron side), then, stitched through each row of words twice with my sewing machine. A sprinkle of ‘Dip Your Toe Teal’ Magicals (mixed with water – July Color Kit) looks like water splashed across the page!
After adhering the letters, I cut down the background paper and matted it with the ‘Escape’ patterned paper for the perfect colorful border. Next, I matted my two 3.5″ x 5″ photos with the ‘Beach’ patterned paper and placed them in the center of the page overlapping one another. Now it was time for the FUN part … EMBELLISHING!
In each cluster around the page I used a mixture of chipboard pieces (Embellishment Kit), Cardstock Die-Cuts (Main Kit), and Dimensional Stickers (Main Kit). I also added die-cut leaves (‘Tropical Leaves’ Die Set) using the Jungle Green cardstock for a tropical flair!
I love how the die-cut leaves tie in with the palm trees in my photos! The leaves also ground each of my embellishment clusters and help them to stand out from the colorful background.
I love to create little scenes with the different embellishments. It takes me right back to this relaxing day on the beach at Chankanaab Adventure Beach Park.
I have many more photos from our time on this beach and I plan on scrapping them all with the beautiful July 2023 Hip Kits so that they all tie in with one another. Check back throughout the month to see more of my pages with the July kits.
