August Mood Board Scrapbook Layout Inspiration
Jana used the mood board as a jumping-off point for this layout about her dog Ellie – she latched onto the floral circle concept but swapped the flowers for die-cut crochet texture circles instead. That one substitution gave the page a completely different feel while still honoring the mood board's composition. The title "Fool You" fits her journaling about Ellie looking sweet while being an absolute troublemaker.
Hey, friends! It’s Jana Eubank. I’m back with another layout using the beautiful May 2023 Hip Kits! Today I’m using the June Mood Board from the Hip Kit Club Facebook Group as the starting point for my page design. Watch the video below to see how this layout came together!
I was drawn to the photo from the mood board showing a circle of flowers. I imagined that circle as a base layer, anchoring my photos. However, instead of a circle of flowers, I chose to create a square using four die-cuts created with the Crochet Texture die.

I created the title using the script letters from the Embellishment Kit and the multi-colored foam letters from the Main Kit. I accented the left side of the title with floral die-cuts (Embellishment Kit), a bird die-cut (Main Kit), and sparkly, silver-glitter foam hearts (Main Kit).
I also added several die-cut clouds using the May Cloud Die Set. The clouds helped the ‘Fool You’ title words stand out against the crochet texture.
I matted the photos of my dog using the ‘Right Here, Right Now’ paper then used a black pen to add my journaling to the left side of the page.
Like my title says … don’t let this cute little puppy face fool you. I have owned several dogs, and Ellie is the naughtiest pup I have ever had. LOL! It’s a good thing she’s so CUTE!

Ideas from This Mood Board Layout
- You do not have to copy the mood board literally. Jana replaced flowers with crochet texture die cuts and kept the circular arrangement – same composition, totally different vibe.
- Use four die cuts arranged in a square as a background element behind your photo. The crochet texture dies from the May kit created a soft, dimensional base that frames without competing.
- Mix letter styles in your title. Jana combined foam alphas with script letter stickers for a playful, eclectic look that fits a lighthearted pet page.
- Handwrite your journaling directly on the layout instead of printing it. The imperfect handwriting matches the casual, fun mood of a pet scrapbook page.
- Pull cloud die cuts and small floral accents from your embellishment kit to fill the corners and edges. These little touches fill white space without making the page feel cluttered.
