Hi everyone, Anke here with a new layout inspiration for Hip Kit Club featuring the February 2023 Hip Kits. For this mixed media layout I used the February Color Kit and the exclusive stamps, which are included in the February Main Kit and the February Pocket Life Kit.
I started with fussy cutting lots of flowers and leaves from the Hip Kit Club Exclusive – “Always & Forever – Oh So Pretty” paper. Then I colored these flowers using the ink pads, which are included in the February Color Kit, some ink pads from previous Color Kits and a paint brush.I applied the ink on an acrylic block and then I used a paint brush for coloring the flowers. I started with a thin layer of color. Therefore I used water and just a bit of the ink. I colored all flowers this way and then I let them dry.
Once the flowers were dry I added a second layer of ink to the center of the flowers. This time I used less water and more ink to get a darker shade of the colors. So I got this beautiful watercolor look. Then I prepared the background of my layout and added a layer of modeling paste using the stencil, which is included in the February Color Kit.
I picked out two metal dies, the “February 2023 Hoop & Floral” and the “February 2023 Slimline Lattice Background” metal die and cut them from white cardstock.
I framed my photo with the “Hoop & Floral” die cut and backed the “Lattice Background” die cut with a piece of the Hip Kit Club Exclusive – “Essential Solids – Sea Foam” paper, which is included in the February Cardstock Kit.
Then I placed the “Lattice Background” die cut and my framed photo on my page and arranged the flowers.
I added some stamped hearts to each of the floral clusters and then I adhered the flowers. The heart stamp is included in the February Main Kit. And I also added a tag and die cuts from the “Always & Forever Cardstock Ephemera” pack, which is also included in the February Main Kit.
I picked out one of the vellum butterflies from the “Butterfly & Mandala Vellum Die Cuts” pack, which you can find in the February Embellishment Kit and backed it with white cardstock. Before I adhered the butterfly I pierced holes and added some hand stitching.
Then I chose some of the stamps from the exclusive clear stamp set, which is included in the February Pocket Life Kit, stamped the phrases on white cardstock, cut them out and added them to my page.
I had a little accident with my black ink pad and that ended with a black stain on the white cardstock. So I ripped off a bit of the cardstock and backed that part with a piece of the “Always & Forever – Can’t Get Enough” paper. Then I did the same on the other side of my layout. Then I continued embellishing my page with a chipboard flower from the “Chipboard Floral Stickers” pack, which is included in the February Embellishment Kit and a chipboard butterfly from the “Chipboard Frames” pack, which you can find in the February Main Kit.
Finally I added some puffy stickers and Nuvo Drops from my stash.
Here you can see the finished layout. I hope you like it and feel inspired to add some mixed media accents to your next project.
