Hello Hip Kit Fans! Welcome to the blog today! It’s Mari here with more Documenting December inspiration using the amazing November 2021 Hip Kits!
I love to create two 8×6 pages with an interactive insert between when creating an 8×6 album. For the left side of my three projects today, I used the stencil from the color kit and the Catherine Pooler inks to create the plaid pattern on the white 8×6 cardstock. I cut the “Twinkle Twinkle” patterned paper to 8×6 and scored it on the 8 inch length at 2 and 6 inches. This creates a gate fold element. I wrapped twine around the gate fold and adhered this to the plaid background.
I cut six squares of patterned paper and scored them 1/8th of an inch from the top. I folded on the score line and adhered them to the inside of the gate fold element. I added puffy numbers from the Pocket Life kit Puffy Alphas set to the outside of the squares. I added chipboard stickers and patterned paper strips to the front of the gate fold element. I stamped the Christmas tree using the exclusive stamp set and heat embossed it with the Silver Tinsel embossing powder from the Color kit.
I love how there is now space under these little square flaps to add journaling about our favorite places to go during the holiday shopping season. We like to go to the shops and experience the holiday mood with a hot chocolate in hand!
I cut “Twinkle Twinkle” paper into the shape of an oversized tag to create the insert between the two 8×6 pages. I cut the “Sparkle Bright” paper to 3×6.5 and scored 1/4 of an inch from the top. I adhered the scored flap to the large tag. I rounded the corners of the flap at the bottom and embellished with Chipboard from the Embellishment kit. I added twine to the tag and patterned paper to the bottom of the flap.
When the flap is lifted, a photo mat area is revealed, as well as the number “4” for story number four in the album. The number is an acetate piece from the Embellishment kit.
The back of the tag has two 3×3 photo mats as well as chipboard stickers (Pocket Life kit) and a puffy sticker (Embellishment kit).
The right side 8×6 page is cut from the “Merry Everything” paper (I think this paper might be my favorite). I added some strips of patterned paper to the right edge of the page. I cut another piece of the “Merry Everything” paper at 4×7. I scored on the 7 inch edge at 1/4 of an inch, ensuring that the score line is added so the Merry text is on the top of this flap. I adhered the scored flap to the base page. I cut a 1.75×3.75 inch strip from the “Sparkle Bright” paper and added that to the center of the flap over the “Merry” text. This is a belly band, so it is only adhered on the edges, leaving the center open for a belly band insert. I cut the insert from the “Twinkle Twinkle” paper at 2.75×6. I added a cardstock sticker (Pocket Life kit) to the top of the insert and a chipboard sticker (Pocket Life kit) to the belly band. I added a 3×3 photo mat under the flap.
I hope this inspires you to document those December memories! I can’t wait to take all of my photos this month and add them to my pages!
Have a wonderful day!
