Hi friends. I am so excited to share my latest layout using the amazing August kits. Today I am focusing on the Color Study elements by Vicki Boutin. I love the bright colours of the collection.
To begin with, I used a dry brush and black acrylic paint to create some rough stripes on the background. Just dab off any excess paint so that you get those lovely brush strokes. I love the pop of bright colour against the black.
Next, I fussy cut a selection of big blooms from the Floral Study paper. I layered them and added a little tangled thread for some added texture. Did you see the little ruffled edge behind the photo? I secured a paper streamer folding it as I stuck it down. I think it adds an extra touch of colour and texture.
I do like to fussy cut and couldn’t resist the cute notepaper and clip that was on the cut apart sheet (Collection). I punched a hole and threaded twine through. I also tucked in some of the beautiful Color Study cardstock stickers from the Embellishment kit.
To balance out the design, I layered another flower and more stickers at the bottom of the layout. That little budgie is so cute!
To finish off, I added the title from the Color Study cardstock stickers and tiny gold dots from the same set – they look so pretty when they catch the light.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope I have inspired you to try a bold design like this. Don’t forget to share your creations with us on the Hip Kit Club Facebook Group.
That black paint on the background really makes those papers pop- that’s such a great technique! Ooooh- the ruffled crepe paper is darling! Always love seeing your work. 🙂
