A cut file layout inspired by Piet Mondrian

Hello everyone! Christina here with a new layout, using the Hip Kit Club April 2021 Main & Embellishment Kit, plus one of the April subscriber cut files. Since I’m a huge fan of Modernism (paintings, architecture etc.), I drew my inspiration for my layout from the abstract paintings of the Dutch painter Piet Mondrian, who’s famous for using black lines and primary colors in his paintings.

So, here’s how my Mondrian inspired layout turned out:

I began by cutting the pinwheel cut file from the black Maggie Holmes paper included in the Main Kit, backed some parts of it with the back side of the same paper, and also used some acrylic paints in yellow, blue and pink (instead of red as in the Mondrian paintings).

Next, I layered my photo on a couple of patterned papers cut slightly bigger than my photo.

Then I gathered all kinds of embellishments  – like fussy cut leaves, Maggie Holmes chipboard stickers, Simple Stories puffy stickers and Prima Marketing adhesive gems – in clusters around my photo,

Finally, I added my title (a “hello” sticker from the Maggie Holmes sticker sheet included in the Embellishment Kit), and my journaling.

I hope you like my page and got a little bit inspired… Thank you so much for stopping by!

XOXO

Christina
