Hi everyone, Its Melissa here and I’m so happy to be back sharing my last creation with the gorgeous February 2021 Hip Kits. These kits have been a joy to create with, and today I’m sharing a layout made with the Main Kit and Cardstock Kit only.   My layout features all products from Pink Fresh Studio’s “Some Days” collection, including the gorgeous floral printed ledger paper.

 

 

Sometimes I find that a patterned paper such as this one  can be very intimidating to use, as its difficult to decide how to incorporate the printed design into my layout.  I used a large piece of pink cardstock with vellum (from the Cardstock Kit) overlaid to break up the ledger lines on my background.  I then built my design on the diagonal from right to left, using the printed flowers to almost frame my design.   Machine stitching in white thread helped to subtly draw attention to the vellum.

 

 

The colours in this kit are absolutely stunning.  My photo is a birthday photo of my daughter Brielle from a couple of years ago when she turned 5.  The colours in my photo were never going to work with the Pink Fresh colours so I turned my photo to black and white.

 

 

I wanted to add some hand stitching to my layout and one of my favourite techniques is to stitch around elements on a patterned paper, and then fussy cut them out.  The full “5” and partial “5 were perfect for this birthday page!!

 

 

I also hand stitched on one of the cards from from the cut apart sheet.  I used this card to contain my journalling.  I love how the hand stitching adds texture.

 

 

Brielle is a very girly girl, and it was the perfect opportunity to use up lots of the delightful floral pieces from the Elements Pack. I tucked them in lots of spots around my design and I love the whimsy that they add.  My final touch was to add enamel dots in groups of three.
