DAISY CHAINS | FEBRUARY MAIN KIT ONLY | MORAG CUTTS

Hi friend.  Thanks for popping in.  Today I would like to share my first layout using February’s Main kit. There is a beautiful mix of collections including wonderful exclusives from Hip Kit Club.  I am using the gorgeous cut apart sheet in the main kit – Some Days by Pink Fresh Studio.

To begin with, I set about adding some colour to white cardstock.  I created a simple stencil by die-cutting circles of different sizes out of an old plastic book cover.  I used a large brush to apply Distress Oxide Inks (Peacock Feathers and Worn Lipstick).  To prevent brush marks, I applied the ink using a light circular movement to build up colour.

I overlapped some circles – I like the effect where you can see darker areas or a different colour where the inks mixed.

To add a little more drama, I used another stencil but this time with black.  My black ink wasn’t dark enough so I opted to sponge black acrylic paint.  As this was a little messy, I resorted to using a black pen – colouring in some crosses and outlining others.

Now for that cut apart sheet.  I love the tickets, labels and tags on the sheet.  I cut out  a few of my favourites and added eyelets for extra detail.  I also punched one of the Some Days Chipboard flair from the main kit.  I set an eyelet so it looks like a token to layer above the other tickets and tags.

I wanted to hang the tags so used one of the tags from the cut apart sheet and adhered it upside down.  I was able to dangle the tags before adding a bow.

The beautiful floral die-cuts were arranged around my photo.  I layered tulle below the main flowers for a little softness.  To finish off, I added a few cross-stitches here and there.

This simple background is so versatile – you could use much larger circles or add more spots of colour to create a completely different look.  I hope you’ll give it a go.

Thanks for stopping by.
