Hey friends! Brianna Lepper here today with a new layout using some of the Hip Kit exclusives from the February 2021 kits! The design team was sent these exclusives in a printable version so that we can show y’all how awesome they are while waiting for your kits to arrive! I hope you are excited to receive your kits, I promise you.. it is completely worth the wait! Let’s get to my layout! It’s mood board day and this months board is gorgeous!! Here’s my layout:
Here’s the beautiful mood board that was created by the super talented Vicki Parker. Isn’t it gorgeous? I was inspired by the watercolor hearts on the bottom left!
In addition to being inspired by this lovely board, we were also prompted to incorporate an ombre design with hearts. I LOVE creating anything ombre, especially with mixed media. This was the perfect starting point for me so I cut the Heart Rainbow subscriber cut file from the February 2021 Cut Files and cut it on white cardstock. It’s the perfect cut file to use as a stencil. If you’re not a current subscriber, there are free cut files that are available to you. Simply login to your account and you’ll be able to access them.
After it was finished cutting, I trimmed the paper down and lightly taped it to another piece of white cardstock. Next, I took white modeling paste from my stash and pushed it through the stencil/cut file. Then, I took the Razzledazzle Berry Vibez and the Tickle Me Turquoise Shimmerz from the Color Kit and painted them on starting from the darkest in the middle and fading the colors out as I got to the edges of the rainbow. This created the beautiful ombre look. I don’t have the kits yet, but thankfully I had the same Shimmerz colors from the kit in my stash so I could show y’all a little sneak of what you’ll be getting if you ordered the Color Kit. These colors are a perfect match for the kits!
I am loving all of the texture on this page! Do you like adding texture to your layouts? This cut file would also be fun to back using the same ombre look or to even try backing it with patterned papers. There are so many different possibilities for this cut file. Next, I took it a step further and pulled out coordinating thread colors and ran it through my sewing machine. This added another element of texture and interest.
I took the exclusive ephemera from the Embellishment Kit and created a few clusters around my page. I tucked and layered them here and there making sure to pull out a lot of the hearts. I also added one of the mini phrase stickers from the Pocket Life Kit and tucked in one of the mixed media stickers under it. If you want a mixed media look without the mess, these stickers are for you!
In this next cluster, I added in one of the die cut phrases as a subtitle and also added in a couple of the labels from the die cut tags set. You can find both in the Embellishment Kit.
For my title, I used another one of the die cut phrases. My photo is of my two boys playing basketball together at the start of the quarantine last year. We spent a lot of time outside and these are memories I will always treasure.
Here’s one last up close shot of my layout. The texture on all of those hearts.. Swoon! I cannot wait to get these amazing kits! Not only are they packed with the best exclusives, but they also have new products from other companies in them as well. The perfect mix!
