MINI BOOK | MORAG CUTTS | JANUARY 2021 HIP KITS

Hi there friends.  I have a new mini-book with a big surprise for you today.  I used the wonderful January kits to create this super-cute album of our dog (who was born on Valentine’s day). There are 4 pages in the album plus a pocket to store more pages or ephemera.  Read on to see all the details including the suprise.

The album is approximately 6×6″ which I created from scratch using white cardstock. To create some added interest on the front  cover, I created a faux envelope effect – I stuck down the edges of top and bottom flaps but left open the sides so I could tuck in a tag.

The front cover is decorated with the very cute puffy stickers from January’s main kit.  The chipboard title from January Embellishment kit is perfect for my suprise album.

When we open the book to the first page, out pops this page of pictures!  The concertina page is attached to a mechanism which is easy to create.  I have created a diagram to help you if you wish to create your own pop out page (see below).

Page 3 of the album is decorated with the B sides of the pattened papers.  Using different shapes really helps to create interest and depth on the page.

Page 4 of the album features one of the beautiful faux embroidery hoops found in the Embellishment kit.  I backed it with cardstock before adding my photo and sweet die-cut embellishments, chipboard and puffy stickers.  I also added one of the acetate borders that I had in December’s kit.

Between the pages, I created a pocket to hold more ephemera, tags or photos.  I created a pull out page – I’ve kept it flat so it slips into the pocket more easily.  Did you notice that I used one of the sweet manufacturer’s strips for the pull out rather than a ribbon?

The reverse side of the pullout page.

The the pop out page is made from two pieces of cardstock which are scored and folded as shown in the diagram below.

You can watch how I made the album on my YouTube channel here:

I hope that you liked my surprise mini album! It was so much fun to make. I gave it my daughter  on her birthday – she was so thrilled with it.Hopefully you’ll try this technique out for yourself too.  I would love to see what you create.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  See you soon.
