Hi Friends! I have a new layout this week featuring the January 2021 Hip Kits. The challenge this week was to use a heart shape cut file and add some mixed media to my project. I had the best time adding the mixed media directly on the cut file (it is my first time) and then I played with textures and colors. I used a couple of the rolled flowers that we got in the January Color Kit to test them since I will be working with most of them next week. They are one of my favorite products from the kits.

 

My original idea was to use white cardstock for my background and apply the mixed media directly to it. I did a test and made a mess (one of those that not even Missy can fix) and decided to take a different route. I found one of the pink patterned papers from the Main kit and added a sheet of Vellum on top of it to make it look lighter without having to apply mixed media. The Mixed media was added directly to the cut file. I played with some of the Shimmerz Paints that we got in our December Color Kit and our January Color Kit. I used different patterned papers from the Main Kit to create rolled flowers in different colors and sizes using a cut file from April 2019. I mixed them with the watercolor paper rolled flowers from the Color kit that I painted with the same Shimmerz paints as the cut file.

 

 

 

 

 

I created two clusters with many layers on opposite sides of the cut file following the original design and added my photo on the right corner. I cut a couple of pocket life cards from the Pocket Life kit and a chipboard frame from the Embellishment Kit to back my photo. I added the Journaling below my photo. I also decided to use some alphas from the Embellishment Kit to add a message on the top left corner of my page.
