Hi everyone!! It’s Melissa and I’m so excited to be with you today for my first blog post!! My assignment was to create a mini album incorporating Pocket Life Cards, and I used the gorgeous August 2020 Kits which are full of exclusive products, and the cards come from the Pocket Life Kit. I documented a recent trip to the park with my family.
I love creating mini albums, and I especially love that my kids enjoying looking through my box of them to relive certain memories I’ve documented. I especially love creating my minis from repurposed materials such as packaging. For this album I used packaging from tofu, and all I had to do was cut off the flaps and one side and my album base was ready to go. Here’s a photo of the box before I deconstructed it.
I was tempted to leave that little heart in my cover design, but in the end I really wanted to use the Simple Stories chipboard as my cover. I covered the outside and inside of the box with two of the beautiful exclusive patterned papers, and I have to admit it was hard to choose which ones!
I used accordion binding, and selected lots of Pocket Life Cards and patterned paper to make my pages. I used my sewing machine on all of the inside pages for texture before I adhered them to the binding. It took extra time, but I love how it looks!
The Pocket Life Cards were perfect for either holding my journaling, or as embellishment, like I did on this card with the phone.
I made an effort to dedicate some journalling space to each of my four children. My oldest child is a 13 year old boy who was such a good sport playing with his little sisters!
As you can see I kept my embellishing to a minimum, mostly because the Pocket Life cards and and patterned paper pages do most of the work for me. This page makes me smile!!
This page is an example of how I cut apart of the Pocket Life cards to use the image as an embellishment!! So perfect for those photos of my girls in the fish board!!
I hope you enjoyed a glimpse into my mini album and I hope I’ve inspired you to use your Pocket Life cards outside of the pocket! I loved making this very chunky mini album!
I’ve made a walk through video which you can watch below .
Thanks for being here with me today!
