Cut file burst and stitching ! | Sophie Delorme

Hello Hip Kit friends !

It’s Sophie with you today and I am happy to share a colorful cut file layout ! I will also go through my step-by step creative process with you. Everything on this page comes from the March 2020 Hip Kits.

I used the beautiful Easter Egg April Subscriber cut file designed by Kimberly Hutchison, but with a little twist. I was driven by the butterflies on the egg so I enlarged the cut file and used the bottom part of it as well as extra butterflies to create a flight of butterflies on my page.

I first cut the cut file on white Cardstock, and repeated the process on the beautiful patterned paper #6 from the Paige Evans Bloom Street collection (March 2020 main kit).

I chose the Bazzill Wisteria Textured Cardstock as my base (March 2020 Cardstock kit) and applied white gesso on the upper left portion of the layout, where my flight of butterflies was going to take place.

I added a few watercolor splatters on my cardstock.

Before adhering down my cut file, I stitched every butterfly in place with matching thread in a rainbow scheme, starting with the purple-blue colors on the bottom, then green-yellow above, and finally orange-pink on the top.

I glued everything down on my cardstock, curled every butterfly wing, and added a few cut out words and phrases from the Paige Evans Patterned paper #13 (March 2020 main kit) in matching colors around the butterflies.

My title is from the Paige Evans Bloom Street Flutter Phrase Thickers from the March 2020 main kit, and the Amy Tangerine Picnic in the Park Loving Life Alphabet Thickers from the March 2020 Pocket Life kit.

I added a few other embellishments like the golden leaves and the cute little bird that are from the Jen Hadfield Hey Hello collection (March 2020 Embellishment kit), and a few white acrylic splatters as the finishing touch !

Although this layout is very colorful and full of dimension, it took very few products to come together. Essentially 2 sheets of patterned paper, a cut file, a solid cardstock and a few embellishments !

Here are the close-ups. Cut files can be easily modified to suit what you have in mind ! I hope it inspired you in some way…!
