Christmas decoration mini-album | Sophie Delorme

Hello Hip Kit Club friends !

Sophie with you today sharing my very fist (seriously..!!!) mini-album with you !

This mini is about all my Christmas decorations. As you will see, yes, our home is decorated everywhere ! But there is a little heartfelt story behind most of my decorations so I thought that creating a mini-album was perfect to highlight them. Warning: This is a loooong post !! I will guide you through my process and hopefully will inspire you and give you some ideas for your next project !

Everything used to create this mini comes from the November kits.

My base was this lovely December subscriber cut file designed by Kim Watson. I duplicated the outline of it and cut it in different patterned papers, Cardstocks and vellum.

Then I chose my photos, matched them with the pages of my album and also cut plenty of November and December Hip Kit cut files, that will be used to embellish my pages.

And it’s a start !

I first backed the cut file with patterned papers from the paper kit. I added ribbon from my stash and one of the beautiful fabric bows from the main kit.

I had to stick a patterned paper on the back of my cover page to hide all the messiness of a backed cut file. I added gesso, watercolors and the “Wish Season” cut file with adhesive foam on its back.

For my first album page, I created a vellum flap by stitching together two vellum squares and sticking them on their upper side so that it opens vertically. My journaling is under that flap.

The back of this page contains another interactive element. I created it with white Cardstock. I punched 2 little blue circles and fixed them on my cardstock with eyelets. I twisted some twine around them to close my pocket. Easy to do, yet so cute !

For my next page, I decided to do a bit of mixed media by using the 6×6 stencil from the color kit with textured paste and the Lindy’s Stamp gang Cuckoo Cardinal Red Magical shaker diluted with water.

I love this next page as it shows my favorite Christmas tree in my daughter’s bedroom ! I did another vertical flap, and used the little tree from the November cut files next to my photo.

On the right side of it, is this page done with Anett Gelencser Twig Wreath November cut file. I cut extra leaves with a punch and applied gesso behind the wreath to soften the patterned paper. I love this page !

On the back, I created two tiny envelopes for two little tags with my journaling explaining my Christmas Village photo that is right next to it.

Now this next page is adorable. I put the Stockings November cut file around my stockings photo on an horizontal flap.

The page next to it features another of my favorite trees. I did an accordion flap to show more photos and my journaling, that I tied with a red ribbon.

This next page is so cute. I created a shaker pocket with red Cardstock, velum and sequins from my stash. I inserted two tags with my photos, and I used the “Ho Ho Ho” freebie November Cut file right next to it.

No interactive element on this next one, but a lot of embellishments and my title fussy cut out of a pocket life card !

The back of the pink patterned paper was a bit loud, so I added a layer of vellum on it, stitching around it. I also added an inner layer of a more settled patterned paper before adhering my photo and stripes of journaling.

And here is my last page ! I love it. I applied dry blue ink on my cardstock behind the white Merry Christmas cut file and it helps a lot to make it stand out !

I did an horizontal flap, applied watercolor on it and wrote a ton of journaling behind it, documenting the meaning of all those Christmas decorations for me.

Finally, the back cover of my album is decorated with ephemeras and letter stickers from the main kit, and floral ephemeras from the Embellishment kit.

Here you are, I know there were so many photos on this post !! I truly hope you like this mini, and that it could have helped you in some way to feel inspired and get crafty !

Thank you so much for passing by, and I wish you the best for 2020 !
