Sunflower layout using exclusive stamps / Lisa Fonseca

Hey friends,

it’s Lisa back on the blog and I’m sharing a layout using the exclusive stamps by Hit Kit Club, designed by Femke Kokke.

In general, it’s a bit of a challenge for me to use stamps… I often don’t really know how to use them best and when I’m done, I mostly don’t like how it turned out… 🙂

Here, the assignment was to use tone on tone stamping. So I took out four papers from the kits (Main Kit, Paper Kit) that I wanted to use and I looked for stamping pads that had the same colors. I used the word stamps and a little flower from the exclusive stamp set  (Color Kit). So for each stamp, I took one of the papers and I stamped it again and again randomly all over the piece of patterned paper, using a stamp pad that had the same color, only a little bit darker of course.

At that point, I really liked it and I hoped I would love the end result too… 🙂 I left it to dry and I continued with my background. I used a white sheet of cardstock (Cardstock Kit) and I created a light background using the three powders in the Color Kit. I gessoed my page first and then just mixed the powders with water, put some splatters on the page randomly, wiped off the excess with a paper towel and let it dry. I then splattered some white paint on top.

I took my stamped sheets and started cutting out letters, alternating the papers for each letter. I wanted to write the words “Sunflower paradise”, since I used a picture of myself when I was in a sunflower field in Italy in July. 🙂

When I had all my letters, I placed them on my background and left some space to place my photo. I matted it with a few layers of patterned paper and placed it on my page too.

When everything was how I liked, I started gluing it down. I wanted my letters to have dimension and not be flat on the page, but I also didn’t want to use foam squares in this case, because then all the letters would’ve had the same dimension and height. I wanted them to look a bit messy and some parts of the letters standing out, while others were flat on the page. I hope you know what I mean… 🙂

I think it turned out really cool and, of course, needed some decoration now.

So I went through my kits and chose the flowers from the Paige Evans Truly Grateful collection ephemera pack (Embellishment Kit). I took flowers and leaves and placed them all around the layout in  a way that looked cool and balanced to me. Then I also took a mushroom sticker from the Truly Grateful sticker sheet (Pocket Life Kit), some puffy stars from the Truly Grateful puffy sticker sheet (Main Kit) and some enamel dots and hearts… (Main Kit, Pocket Life Kit).

I also splattered some pink and gold paint in some areas, traced a scribbly border around the layout and I was done.

I have to say that I REALLY  love how it turned out and to use the stamps like this, was a super idea, that turned out very cool and that I will use again for sure! 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by… see you!
