Hi Everyone, Niki here today with a new layout for Mixed Media Monday using the July 2019 Kits. There is a process video for this layout available to view at the end of this blog post.
My assignment today was to use the Color Kit, and to use punches or dies. I don’t have many metal dies so I went for punches. I was going to use hearts but then went on to use stars instead.
I was determined to scrap this photo of my baby boy who has just had his first birthday. But when you first look at the July Hip Kits, the obvious colours are oranges/peach, yellow and pink. I needed blues and greens. So I figured I’d make my own papers using the Color Kit by mixing the Lindy’s Sprays.
I took a piece of marshmallow cardstock and started adding colour to it. I mixed the blue and yellow sprays together to make green and I applied that using the packaging technique. I did this several times so that I had different shades of green. I also added the blue and yellow sprays to the marshmallow too, so that I had lots of different colours on one sheet. I also added splatters in the same colours.
Once my mixed media sheet was dry, I then used the Echo Park Stencil that was in the July Color Kit and some texture paste from a previous Color Kit. I used the stencil in one direction first, dried it, then turned the stencil around and added more paste but with the stencil positioned the other way. So I had vertical and horizontal lines.
Once dry I then cut up the mixed media sheet with my star punches. I used a large star, a smaller star and a star confetti punch too that cuts out lots and lots of teeny tiny stars. I stuck these all over my background, together with some rainbows fussy cut from one of the Webster’s Pages papers. I added enamel dots and tiny navy hearts too.
I embellished the layout with exclusive ephemera, alphabet and word stickers to form my title, and some stickers. I love how this turned out.
There is a process video available on my channel for you to watch too.
Happy scrapping xx
