For The Record| Sketch Friday with Elsie Robinson

Hey everyone, it’s Elsie here with a layout inspired by this week’s sketch, using the May 2019 kits.

Here is this week’s sketch:

And here is my layout:

I was also tasked to create a page that featured an interactive element. I was inspired by the colourful background in the sketch, so I decided to use the exclusive sequin mix from the Embellishment Kit and create my own mini shaker pockets!

I created my background using white cardstock and sketched some music notes across my page and used scissors to cut those shapes out. To create the pockets I used white tulle, I love the subltle texture this adds and it’s much easier (and cheaper!) to use than acetate is. I sandwiched the sequins between two layers of tulle and backed the notes with white cardstock.

I love how this background turned out, it’s so sparkly and fun to look at, yet it isn’t too busy and doesn’t take anything away from the photo and other embellishments.

The music theme of this page was inspired by the record player chipboard sticker from Crate Paper ‘All Heart’ (in the Embellishment kit). I recreated my own from my own drawing and used patterned papers to piece it together. The sketch also had a bow on it, so I used one of the fabric bows (from the Main Kit) and embellished the record player with that.

Flowers also feature in the sketch, so I embellished the page with several of them!

And finally, as the sketch calls for using a big title, I used the ‘Chill’ foam thickers (from the Embellishment kit) to spell mine. I adore these thickers, they create the cutest titles ever!
