The May Kits arrived on my doorstep this past weekend and I was more than happy to forget the laundry that needed to be done and scrapbook! Priorities, right?! For my first layout, I chose to show a little restraint and make a layout using just the Main Scrapbook Kit. My main reason for doing this, was that I have been and continue to be a little strapped on time–it’s the end of the school year where I am and that means an insane schedule of events and obligations that has left me very little time to myself and limiting myself to one kit would keep me on target time wise. Here is what I came up with:
The “Selfie” patterned paper was perfect for these photos of my daughters posing in front of the Badwater Basin sign in Death Valley. My initial idea was to cut the photo strips lengthwise and have them run down the side, but as I was playing around with them I had the urge to cut them up and use them as a title. Love it when an idea works out that way!
To complete my 12×12 layout, I layered four patterned papers under my photo along with a puffy frame and piece of vellum. To create a banner look, I stitched down the two frames that I cut from the “Selfie” paper and added a fun, fabric bow. Finally, I fussy cut a few stars from another paper and layered them over the photo and papers. I added pop dots to a few of the stars to add a bit of dimension.
It took me less than an hour to pull this layout together which was just perfect! In this busy season of life being able to squeeze in a little bit of me time really helps to refresh the mind and help me power through the rest of the day!
