Ombre effect using mixed media | Vicki Parker

Hi everyone, it’s Vicki with you today to show my take on an ombre effect using mixed media. I was drawn to the pink and peach of the Lindy’s Magical Powders in the April Color Kit and wanted to mix them with texture paste and use the fabulous Paige Evans stencil which was designed exclusively for Hip Kit.

I mixed up the powders into some texture paste and the colour was so vibrant which I loved. I put the texture through the whole stencil onto the centre of the page starting with the peach at the top and the pink at the bottom and mixed them a little towards the middle to create the ombre effect. Some of the powders weren’t quite mixed in properly, but I think it adds to the mixed media effect.

Once this was dry, I layered up the photo with some papers and embellishments from the kit – mostly using the Dear Lizzy sticker sheet from the ebellishment kit which coordinates so well with the colours of the powders.

I cut the title from the Paige Evans Horizon collection paper in the main kit as it had the perfect colours to coordinate with the layout. I added some of the embossed gold foil die cuts from the Maggie Holmes Sunny Days collection, also in the embellishment kit which pulled in the gold accents on the stickers.

I finished with a few splatters in coordinating colours around the page and the layout was done. I’m really happy with the ombre effect which has me worried before I began, but turned out to be super easy. I hope it gives you some inspiration – until next time….
