DIY embellishments | Maija Männistö

Hi Hip Kit friends! Maija here to share my first blog post on the design team. Today’s assignment was to make dimensional embellishments and boy how happy I am about this! DIY embellishments are one of my favorite things to make, the small size makes this a quick and fun craft!

This time, like many times before when making embellishments, I just couldn’t stop making them! I used the  February 2019 Main Kit and the Embellishment Kit  and I just couldn’t resist all the goodies in them! So  I ended up with several pieces and made couple projects with them.

I tried to make different kinds of embellishments to get the most out of the kits. I love that you can make them as tiny or as big as you want to. Just add lots of layers! I use foam stickers to make more dimensional look, also the chipboard stickers are perfect for that, just like the Carta Bella Flower Market chipboards that came in the Main Kit. Adding a paperclip to the embellishment makes it easy to attach to wherever you wish! For example I like to use them in my memory planner, just adding them to the side of the page!

I wanted to make a layout with these so that I could use even more of these gorgeous colors combos. Even the milkshake we are drinking is coordinated with the colors, haha!

I used most of the embellishments on this layout, again the problem of not being able to stop once started, haha! Once you have ready made embellishments the building of the layout is fun! You don’t need to add much more to it. I just added a paper cluster under the photo with all the gorgeous papers from Pinkfresh Studio, Crate Paper, Carta Bella and Hip Kit Exclusives.

The paper tassels might be my favorite of all the embellishments! I love tassels of all sorts and I couldn’t be happier that these turned out so pretty! I found a tutorial on how to make leather tassels and I just went ahead and tried it with paper. And it worked! The papers on the Main Kit and the Paper Kit are perfect for this! I highly recommend trying. I might have already made a few more…

I used the chipboard frames to lift up the paper+photo cluster, so that the tassels have room to dangle on the page.

The big paper clip I used for a card. I cut slits to the background paper so that if wanted, the paperclip could be taken of. Perfect combination of a card and a gift!

In this banner you can see the dimensionality well! Just add things in layers and different textures too! It makes it interesting to look at.

Thank You for stopping by the blog! Don’t forget to check out the February 2019 kits! And while you are at it, take a look at the gorgeous March 2019 Kits too!
