Hi everyone! Michelle back here on the blog today to share a new layout featuring one of our exclusive February Cut Files! One of the perks of being a subscriber is that each month our designers create a fun batch of fun and free cut files for those who subscribe to our monthly kits. This month, being February and all, the cut files feature a fun assortment of hearts and I am going to show you how I put the “Welded Hearts” cut file to work on my 9×12 layout!

The February Kits, which just arrived at my house, feature a pretty color palate that I thought would work well for some January pics and I decided to use the [cut file] as a background element for my layout. When deciding on how to use a cut file, I always ask myself a few questions: First, do I want to use it as an embellishment?
And second, do I want it to be a background element or do I want it stand out? For this layout, I wanted the cut file to be a background element and act as a more of a “detail” as opposed to a stand out element and that is why I chose to cut it out of the same cardstock that I used as my background paper.
Want to create layouts like this? Our monthly kits include coordinated papers, embellishments, and supplies to bring your scrapbook pages to life.

By keeping the cut file the same tone as the background, I kept my photo front and center. Yet despite my simple approach, I added a lot of detail.

If you are interested in using more cut files on your projects, make sure and check out our monthly cut files here! They are a great resource!
