La La Love You | Grid Layout with Tazhiana

Hello Hip Kit friends! Tazhiana here with a grid style layout for you today. There’s a cut apart Pink Fresh paper in the February kits and it’s the perfect starting place to create a more geometric page.

This was one of those layouts where I started the background without having any idea what photo or story I was going to tell. I knew I would end up using a black and white picture with all this color in the background so I just went for it. I started off by cutting a 16 squares out of that patterned paper and then cutting some coordinating cardstock sheets from the Cardstock Kit. Next, I layered the Pink Fresh squares over the cardstock squares, and I placed some of them straight down and some of them at an angle just to add some visual interest. I then stuck down my layered squares on my background, aiming for a more brick layered effect rather than a perfect grid. Finally, I chose a Crate Paper with hearts all over it as my border and I stuck down my white cardstock to the patterned paper.

Right about here is where I decided to scrap a photo of my fur babies because my phone is full of them and they are far too cute for their own good. I used some Project Life card from the Project Life kit as photo mats for my picture and then went to work on embellishing the layout. I grabbed the Pink Fresh Joyful Day ephemera pack from the Embellishment Kit and used that to create my photo clusters. I also used one of the Pink Fresh fabric banners, also from the Embellishment Kit, to add a pop of green since my embellishments were mainly coral and yellow. After sticking down my cluster to my photo, I backed the whole complex with foam and glued it down to my background.

For my title, I was really inspired by the name of the Crate Paper collection in this month’s kit, and I was super lucky that the Main Kit included two packs of puffy stickers from Pink Fresh. I grabbed the large “love” elements from the puffy phrase stickers and spelled out the rest of my title using the puffy alpha stickers. I love the contrast in color and size between the sticker packs. I finally used the same ephemera pack to create a cluster in the top right corner and scattered some enamel dots from the Main Kit across the page.

I love how this layout came out and I hope you found inspiration here to play with a grid style page. The February kits are gorgeous and well worth the wait, and I hope you make time to make something beautiful today. Till next time, keep it crafty friends.
