Fussy Cutting and Machine Stitching – Anke Kramer

Hello Hip Kit friends, Anke here with you today, sharing a layout featuring the beautiful January Main Kit. I was challenged to incorporate fussy cutting and machine stitching in my project – two of my favorite techniques when it comes to scrapbooking.

I started with fussy cutting some leaves, branches and cups from different papers. These would work pretty well with the photo I chose for my layout. It’s a photo of me and my dog having a coffee break on the stairs in front of our house. (Well, Louis didn’t have coffee but he enjoyed sitting there with me.)

My idea was to stitch and embellish a large C for “coffee” on my layout and to place the photo in the middle. So I first took a pencil, drew a C on my cardstock and placed some branches and leaves on that pencil line. Then I sewed along this line with my sewing machine. Then I added some more leaves and branches and sewed  once again.

For a more dimensional look I layered my photo with patterned paper, die cuts and a chipboard frame. Two corners of the frame are embellished with fussy cut elements.

I glued down the alpha stickers for my title and then it was time to give the layout the final touch. So  I backed the white cardstock with green paper, added more embellishments like puffy hearts, enamel shapes, chipboard and a thread bow and placed small clusters of fussy cut elements on both sides of the title.
