Hi everyone! Martina here with my very first Hip Kit Club DT Blog Post.
As I am working with the absolutely beautiful December Documented Kit, I have been thinking about sharing my process of the creation of my December Documented Binder.
To get started, I assembled everything I had planned on using –

Next I cut out the first of the 12 days of Giving Cut files to use on my cover.

My creative process often takes another road as usually planned – that’s what happened during this project, too – to get started, I glued the cut file down and covered all the kraft parts of my binder with regular gesso.
A good tip to remember is: To protect the bookbinder linen, cover it up with painters tape, it is easy to apply & remove afterwards.

Whilst I waited for the first and the second layer of gesso to dry, I tried to figure out how I’d like to arrange my album title.
The pebbles wood grain chipboard “Christmas” was perfect!

Once completely dry, i have added another layer of gesso to get a nice and even coverage.

A light mist of water onto the cover prepared the gesso me to add some water color to the die cut.

To get some more depth and interest, I added another shade of blue.

After the water color has dried completely, I arranged my title as planned:

Since I wasn’t completely happy with it, I tried another version:

I ended up with a variation of version two:

I am really happy with the result and am looking forward to recording lots of wonderful December moments in it!

I really do hope that I can encourage and inspire you to create your own binder for your December Documented projects!
I cannot wait to see, what you create!
