Adventure – Weekly Sketch | Vicki Parker

Hello Hip Kit friends, Vicki here with my take on this week’s sketch challenge which you can join in with on the Hip Kit Club Group page on Facebook. When I saw the sketch, I had an idea of what I wanted to do really quickly and I am really happy with the final layout (even though my stitching isn’t quite perfect).

The heart element was the predominant focus of the sketch for me and I wanted to make it a feature on my layout too. So, I cut a heart from some old cardstock I had in my stash and used some Shimmerz to add some mixed media to the shape. I could have done this freehand, but this worked really well with the template. The colors were from the October color kit with some Well Blew Me Down Coloringz from the August color kit.

When I removed the cardstock template, I decided that I needed a little more definition around the heart, so I used some black thread on my sewing machine to stitch twice around it and added some zigzag stitching as well in two places.

I used the October main kit and embellishment kit to put together the rest of the layout. I layered the photo and used some of the Whimsical flowers and a single flower from the speciality die cut paper which I painted with the Pop Art Pink Vibez and Sunflower Shimmerz paint from the October color kit and popped up the middle to give it some dimension. I also used some of the Vicki Boutin die cuts for some added interest.

I really hope you like the layout and that you’ll join in with the sketch challenge – we love to see the various different takes on it. I hope my layout will give you some inspiration for your own.

Vicki
