Hi there! Niki here today and I’m creating a layout using the October 2018 kits and I’m focussing on using the Paige Evans Whimsical Swatchbooks. I had the Main Kit, the Project Life Kit and the Embellishment kit. The swatchbooks from the Whimsical collection are great fun to use. The came in the October 2018 Embellishment kit. There are two in the pack: one with 2×2″ swatches of patterned papers, and one with 2×2″ phrases.

I folded up 12 of the swatchbook papers so that each corner of the square was in the middle, which created a little peep hole. I then trimmed 12 of the swatchbook phrases to fit inside each of the little peep holes. You can see in the next two images how the phrases are just showing through the triangles…but when you open them out you can see the whole phrase.

I then arranged my little squares onto my layout together with my photos, which I mounted on some of the Project Life cards.  I then added a title using those super-gorgeous rainbow Thickers from Whimsical, and embellished using ephemera, rub-ons, stickers, a wooden button and enamel shapes.

I finished by adding a row of machine stitching at the top and bottom of the layout and also some handstitching around three of the squares. It went a bit wonky – I’ll use my guide next time!
