Hey there Hip Kit Fans, Niki here with you today with a layout to share. This is my first time on the Hip Kit Club blog, eek, and I’m so very happy to have joined this amazing team, so thank you for joining me today and I hope you enjoy my layout and all my upcoming DT projects!
Today’s layout was inspired by the story I wanted to tell. Sometimes I start with the products, sometimes the photos but for this layout the story is the most important part.
I had a baby a few weeks ago, a new baby brother for my two big children and they are completely in love with him, my five year old boy in particular and he constantly (and I mean constantly) wants to kiss him, cuddle him, and high five him, so that story just had to be documented. I tried to get photos of this ritual but they aren’t the best so I had to write out the story on my layout too.
I picked out some of the blue tones from the August Kits and paired those with some of the black. I used one of the Amy Tangerine Shine papers to create my photo stack, highlighted the middle photo on a light blue layer and put one of those completely fabulous pom pom frames from the August Main kit behind the photo stack. I think those frames are my favourite product in this kit! I added in two of the Maggie Holmes crepe paper strips from the August Embellishment kit under the photos. I cut the darker one in half so I could stretch it further across my layout.
I added my title using the black Thickers from the August kit and embellished my layout using loads of different embellishments – I fussy cut some of those sketched hearts from one of the Maggie Holmes Willow Lane papers (I love these, they make fantastic embellishments). I also used some of the chipboard accent stickers from the large chipboard sheet, stickers from the Waterfall sticker pack, one of those super cute Shine On bows from the August Project Life kit, as well as some of the Willow Lane Star Trim – I cut out a couple of the stars individually and stuck them on as embellishments rather than using a longer piece of trim.
I absolutely love the differet textures and finishes on this layout – I’ve got glitter, padded fabric stars, pom poms, crepe paper ruffles, foam, puffy stickers, leather effect…wow, what a combination!
I finished off with a few flicks of Miner Miner 49er Inklingz by Shimmerz – one of my all time favourite products to add gold splatters with . It is super shiny and gorgeous.
I’m so pleased to have documented this little memory…I’m sure that soon enough he will stop being quite as interested in the baby and this ritual is something I might forget so it’s great to have it documented.
Thank you so much for joining me today and I’m looking forward to being back with you really soon. Happy scrapping, Niki xx
