Creating depth by layering embellishments – Christina Buresch

Hello everyone! I’m super excited to share with you my first project as a Hip Kit Club design team member. I already had the chance to play around with the super cute August kit, and I loved how different the layouts I crated with it so far look. But for my first post I thought I’d share with you a typical “me” layout.

Typical “me” means that I always like to fussy cut elements from patterned papers, and mix them up with embellishments like ephemera, stickers and chipboard accents.

By combining and layering them you create a lot of dimension on your layout. For example as you can see in the picture below, I glued some fussy cut leaves under the flower chipboard, and also some fussy cut flowers on top of it.

What I also love doing, is embellishing embellishments. Sounds funny, I know! What I mean is, in this layout I embellished the Cuckoo clock chipboard with some stars from the gold star decorative trim in the August 2018 Project Life Kit.

(Random fact: actually I don’t live far from the Black Forrest where the Cuckoo clocks come from!)

And I thought, since this is my first project as a design team member, why not make use of that pretty wrapping paper the kit came in, and incorporate it on the layout as well?

XOXO

Christina
