Sketch Friday | Kim Watson

Oh my goodness… I love Fridays!

Not only is it weekend, but it is our weekly sketch contest reveal both here, on our Facebook page & in our Member Group! Yup…x5 different interpretations of the same sketch. And this week’s sketch is FABULOUS!

Using the May 2018 kits, a green, black & yellow palette & some cool photos of my son…this is my take.

As you can see, I used the sketch to influence the placement of my page elements. I love that it isn’t too prescriptive, allowing my own personal flavor to come through.

Inspired by the thought of circular pizzas & Vicki Boutin’s stamp & stencil set included in this months May 2018 Color Kit, I created circle embellishments which I layered at different heights. Making use of the variety of gold words & alpha stickers, made a conversational title really simple to do.

The clear sticker sheet of splashes & other bits from American Crafts found in the May 2018 main kit was so cool to work with! Snippets of stickers placed underneath elements definitely looks as authentic as real water color. Mixed media for those days when you aren’t feeling confident to add actual water colors to your page, LOL.

Yellow puffy hearts from Bella Boulevard scattered around the page help to balance color.

Heidi Swapp lace papers are a great way to add subtle texture to your layout without the need for a die cutting machine. The grid style is a great addition to any masculine page.

The joy of both horizontal & vertical elements make for a visually appealing design, so it made sense to me to have my journaling running along the left vertical edge of my page. Not only is it interesting but it gives me more room to write the story.

Well that’s all folks! I hope this has inspired you to get your entries in for a chance at winning that store voucher (details about that can be found in the Member Forum on FB).

Have an awesome weekend! ~Kim
