Hello Hip Kit Club friends! Are you ready for another sketch Friday? The Design Team certainly is! Tarrah and Jessica certainly will show you some amazing inspiration here on the blog, whereas Marinette, Dona, Tanya, and Bea will rock the Facebook community with their amazing interpretations of Irit Landgraf’s sketch of the week. Here is the awesome sketch that Irit designed…..
Hi everyone! I am excited to share my Autumn themed layout with you this week! As I am still currently creating with the gorgeous October 2017 Hip Kits I decided on a leafy, muted layout for this week!
I started this layout choosing to cut one of the November 2017 cut files, this pretty wreath file was designed by Terhi and it is PERFECT for the sketch this week! I machine stitched it to the white cardstock for texture and added hold.
Those supersize titles by Dear Lizzy included in the October 2017 embellishment kit are AMAZING!! I added just a touch of the Mango Tango Shimmering mist (October 2017 Color Kit) with my fingers to the bottom of the title creating an ombre effect…I LOVE how this looks and it was super easy to do.
I decided on a red, yellow and white colour palette this week as these are most of the colours included in my photo. I love those exclusive wood veneer leaves from the October 2017 Project Life kit, they are thin and the detail is stunning! I added some of them to this layout…they go perfectly!
The Pinkfresh Studio ‘Escape the Ordinary’ ephemera and wooden alphabets are main features to this layout too…..also those super cute Prima rubber charms from the October 2017 Main kit were added and I love how these look on this layout!
Thank you so much for stopping by! Make sure you join in with our sketch challenge this week….we would love to see what you create!

Hey everyone! Brrrrrr, it’s so cold outside already, the best opportunity to tell the wallet that a new cozy jacket is in need! (Don’t listen to the closet saying there’s no room, you don’t need that sort of negativity in your life.) Here’s what I created with the gorgeous November kits today, feel free to check out my process video below as well:
I started off with the light blue cardstock as the base for my layout. I normally never ever use any other color aside from white for my layouts, so this feels historical to me. Really, the light blue doesn’t overwhelm me at all and it’s neutral and light enough to make me feel calm and happy about how this page turned out. I used Terhi’s gorgeous cut file as well – it was just perfect for the sketch. And to be honest, the whole layout was an almost no-brainer.
Once I had my cut file ready, all I did was deciding which embellishments to start with. Which is really the hardest part at the beginning of any kit – I want to use every little piece. But I decided to start with the Snow and Cocoa snowflakes by Crate Paper – yes there’s Snow and Cocoa back! I just loved this collection last year, it’s the ultimate christmas edition for everyone who’s not so into traditional reds and greens.
I made sure to include another snowflake cluster on the rightmost side of the wreath, allowing the eye to go around the page before returning to my main cluster with the photo – I always try to balance my layouts to the best of my abilities. This gives my layout an overall peaceful look and atmosphere, not too busy, but instead light and happy.
I really wanted to use both exclusive Alpha thickers – I think they are THE BEST ever! That scripty gold font, the black polka dots on the white solid thickers, I could sing songs about how much they inspire me. Still yet, I didn’t want to take away the attention from my photo and everything else I had created at this point, so I had to go with a small title, but enough to wrap it up. I added my journaling off camera.
Here’s my process video.
Thanks for joining us today!
