All About the Blues and Golds| Lorilei | Jessica

Happy Wednesday Hip Kit Friends!!  Today we (Lorilei, Evelyn, and Jessica) are excited to share some inspiration featuring Blues & Golds using the October Hip Kits!

I adore the combination of blue and gold!  In my opinion it is one of the easiest color combinations to work with!  The blues and golds in the October Hip Kits are gorgeous and there is so much to pick from for this color palette.  I started out by painting the exclusive October cut file Leaves by Kim Watson with the Shimmerz in the October Color Kit, while I had my paints out I puddled and splattered some paint onto the gorgeous watercolor paper included in the color kit.  While the paints were drying I decided to get out my gold embossing powder and used it on the bottom half of the memories title from Dear Lizzy Stargazer included in the October 2017 Embellishment Kit.  I haven’t done a layered paper stack in a while and I thought it would be a great way to include more blue and gold into the page.  I layered up multiple papers and also tucked in one of the gorgeous project life cards from the October 2017 Project Life Kit.  Next up, it was time to put it all together!  Once I had my photo stack placed with the title it felt natural to have all the leaves falling down the page I tucked in some of the amazing wood veneer leaves by Kim Watson from the Project Life Kit with the painted leaves for added interest and texture.  I couldn’t resist some more sparkle and used the Pinkfresh Studio alphabet to spell family.  Finally I added some Pinkfresh Studio Embellishments and 3 word stickers from the Pretty Little Studio Feels Like Fall Tiny Word Strips!  I encourage you to give the blues and golds in your October Hip Kit center stage on a layout!  I love how my page turned out!

The Old Yeller Inklingz in the October Hip Kit Color Kit is especially shimmery! When you combine the Old Yeller and Lapis Dance you get a gorgeous green!

For my layout yellow become my main color instead of blue. I decided it using yellow start from the mist in the background, the papes under my photo and also some embelishments. I want to be more focus on yellow coz yellow become my fav color.

I mix the white big tittle and gold alphas as my big tittle. Tuck the photo in white chipboard and make it some movements.

I paste some stars and hearts that you can find it at October kit. I paste it randomly in the top and bottom area. The blue stars make my layout pop and stand out.

I also paste some blue stars near the photo and also in the big tittle area.

Hello scrappy friends! I’ll tell you what – fall is my most favorite season of all seasons! Those scrunchy, colorful leaf-filled places, I just can’t get over the beauty of autumn. I was lucky to snap some nice pictures too. My heart is happy! And this is my project for today. Don’t forget to check out my technique focus process video, too!

I cut out a bunch of the beautiful cut files that Kim Watson created this month – and also added some of mine. Instead of throwing away the negative of the cut file, however, I decided to use it as a stencil to add my gold and blue Shimmerz. That way I could have the look of painted leafs so easily!

I also decided to bring in some more sketchy elements – that’s why I scribbled down the twigs and branches with my new Jane Davenport inkcredible pen. I’m still figuring it out, so I thought I would use the opportunity to do so – and I didn’t regret it! Have you tried bringing in some drawn and sketched elements, too? You should try it out!

As you can see, my leaf-cluster consists of many different elements – dipped cut files, painted leafs, sketched elements, die cuts, puffy stickers – and they all work together so easily! On the topmost right corner you can see that I brought in another cluster just to wrap the layout up – you’ll see in my process video that I had a bit of a struggle with my choice of pictures going on, so I’m quite thankful about how it turned out in the end, I already began to get nervous, haha! Sometimes it’s just like that, isn’t it? Wanting to showcase pretty pictures and doing them justice – and stressing when we are afraid it won’t work. Phew.

Thanks for joining me today! Here’s the video:
