Hello Hip Kit Club friends!

It’s sketch Friday time again, as you know by now, this means you’ll find a sketch below and several interpretations from the HKC Design Team members. Today you’ll see Ashley’s and Bea’s interpretation here on the blog – but don’t forget to check out the Member Forum on Facebook to see what Anna, Audrey and Tanya have created; plus Felicity is on the Facebook page –so much inspiration!

The pretty sketch is by Marinette Lesne:

Working with sketches is the perfect opportunity to get new ideas and try something different in your layouts. Usually, I don’t use sketches as a map, but rather choose to go with some of the obvious elements. And even though at the end, it doesn’t look exactly as the sketch, the idea and inspiration from the sketch are what led me to the end result of the layout.

I started this layout with choosing the lovely pink cardstock as my background, and machine stitched some lines across the page. I placed my photo in the same positions as I saw in the sketch, and layered some Pink Paislee – Turn the page ephemera pieces behind. Cut a pink bow from patterned paper using my Silhouette Cameo and adhered with foam tape under my photo. I layered some torn paper to the top of the page and folded tissue papers between the papers. They reminded me to the ruffles of my daughter’s skirt.

I created a cluster on the top right of my layout mostly using Turn the page wood veneer, ephemera flower and puffy stickers. One more tip: the cute wood veneer cloud is a perfect place for your journaling!

Thanks for stopping by! Bea

Hi everyone!

Ashley here, sharing a super simple and quick Traveler’s Notebook spread with you all, using the sketch and the October 2017 Kits!

When I saw the sketch, I immediately fell in love. I knew I wanted to use the different elements in my Traveler’s Notebook insert, but I wasn’t sure how I wanted to piece everything together.

I knew that my photo would be on the right side, so I decided to sort of switch the sketch around.

I added a piece of patterned paper to the left side and then began layering my photo to the right. I used the small alphas (from the Project Life Kit) for my title and then added a little journaling underneath.

For the left side, I wanted to keep it super simple, so I added a few elements in the corner and at the bottom of the page, along with staples (as the sketch demonstrates).

I hope y’all find inspiration in this spread!
