Hi Hip Kit Fans! Today, I am going to show you how easy it is to stretch just the September 2017 Main Kit by fussy cutting with the Paige Evans ‘Turn the Page’ patterned papers. Firstly, I am super excited about this for several reasons, fussy cutting is a great way of making our kits go further but also because I know a lot of subscribers just get the Main Kits so I wanted to showcase it on it’s own. Here is my layout:
When I first get my Hip Kits, I generally open everything up and check out the patterned papers as well as the embellishments in the kits to see how everything might go together. As my design team brief today was to showcase fussy cutting, I first set out the patterned papers I could potentially cut out. I was immediately drawn to the Paige Evans patterned papers, No. 1, No 7 and No 19. The ‘Wonderful’ banner was cut out of one of the journal cards on the No. 1 patterned paper which is actually a grid design but as the letters are easily fussy cut out and I re-arranged it as a banner instead. This is a super cute way of using the journal card in a different manner and as my title too!
The stars on the No. 19 patterned paper are super easy to cut out and if you are a bit uncertain about this technique I would totally recommend giving these a go. I added mine in clusters then stitched through the middle of them with my sewing machine for added texture and so that I could allow the stars to pop off the page from their midpoints and layer them.
Lastly, if you know me well you will know I love drinking good coffee and I couldn’t resist adding in some of the coffee cups from the No. 17 paper too! How adorable are they? They made the cutest embellishments too.
I hope that if you subscribe to just the Main kits then, I have given you some ideas on how to stretch your kits even further. I do believe we are super lucky to get kits filled with so much product that honestly it was no challenge at all for me to just stick with the Main Kit for this layout. AND I hope you have enjoyed my share today as much as I have enjoyed making it.
Take care xx
