Mixed Media Monday with Missy, Orange Gearle and Lorilei

Hello Hip Kit Friends!  Today is all about Mixed Media, time to get messy, be inspired and have fun with the gorgeous September 2017 Hip Kits!

Missy

Hey, friends!  Missy here, and I’m so excited to start off today’s post.  I decided to pull out an old chevron punch from my stash to create a large textured heart.  I was inspired by the beautiful striped Shimelle paper from the Main Kit and Paper Kit.  I also used a few papers from the Turn the Page collection.  I hand cut a big heart from patterned paper and then glued down all the punched strips.  I chose the beautiful Ash card stock from the Cardstock Kit as my background.  I went around the edges of the heart with white gesso and then used the Shimmerz from the Color Kit on top of it.  I also smudged some white gesso on some areas of the heart and added more of the Shimmerz.  I just love the look it gives, and it creates nice depth.

Here you can see the amazing texture from the paper strips!  I did a bit of machine stitching with metallic gold thread through a few of the strips.  I went simple with my title and used one of the Shimelle Thickers from the Embellishment Kit and some of the Hip Kit exclusive gold chipboard alphas from the Main Kit.  I embellished around the photo with some Turn the Page die cuts.

I also used one of the Amy Tangerine bows.  Here you can see how the Sunset Strip Shimmerz created a nice solid yellow area for my title to go. This breaks up the colorful background and make the title pop off the page a bit more.

In the upper right area, I created a little cluster using more of the Turn the Page goodies.  I used one of the 2×2 Paper Pad papers, one of the Paper Clips, some Puffy Stickers and a Wood Veneer.  I added some aqua Shimmerz from my stash behind it.

Finally, I added one of the cute Turn the Page birds and finished everything off with some gold Color Shine splatters.

I hope this inspires you to create something awesome with your Color Kit!  It really can change the entire look of a layout.  I have a process video here if you’d like to check it out.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Keep on reading to see some more gorgeous designs!

Orange Gearle

HI friends! I’m so excited to be here for my first Mixed Media Monday as a Design Team Member! For this layout I used the free cut file by Jessica Fabiano (available here). I backed the cut file with Paige Taylor Evans Paper #2 found in the September Main Kit. This is my favorite paper!

For my background I used Shimmerz Tuscan Sun Spritz from the September Color Kit. I sprayed it directly onto my white card stock — I covered the lower half of the page with a very wet layer of the spritz. Then, while it was still dry I sprinkled salt all over the wet media. When the salt dries, it leaves a visual texture that is so cool — even after I have removed the salt! Here is a close up of what that looks like:

I also added some splatters of Tuscan Sun and Shimmerz Caribbean Sunset — found in the Color Kit. The splatters help to add more color and more visual texture to the page. My title is a combination of fonts. The “fabulous” is from Shimelle Phrase Thickers found in the September Embellishment Kit and “girl” is from the fabulous exclusive alphas in the Main Kit.

Some tangled thread, puffy stickers and sequins to finish it off. But don’t take my word for it — watch my process video if that suits your fancy!

Lorilei

I am so excited for my first Mixed Media Monday!  The Shimmerz sprays in the Color Add-on Kit this month are such gorgeous colors I had to use them all!  I started out the layout by spritzing the mists onto packaging and smushing them onto the white cardstock, I added splatters and let the background dry.  I hand cut some petals and glued them all together with my glue gun for the big burnt orange flower.  I sprayed each of the mists onto the flower letting them dry in between.  I used my silhouette to cut the top two flowers and also applied mist to them.  I used my die cut machine to cut leaves from the mint/teal paper in the Paper kit.  A few die cuts and puffy stickers from Turn the Page added just the right details to finish the page!

The combination of all three sprays in the color kit match Turn the Page beautifully!  I used the Shimelle Glitter Girl title to add contrast and bring out the pretty mint cardstock from the Paper Add-0n Kit.
