Orange peel on a layout?! | Laureen Wagener

Hi there –

no I did no throw some random fruit peel on my layout and took a picture of it, then called it done for my next Hip Kit project.

There is a Quilt design that is called Orange peel and I am loving it ever since I started browsing Pinterest for sewing and quilting and watching some youtube videos on quilting. Probably never going to happen but a girl can dream right?! I can dream about sewing my very own quilt!

And until that time has come I will just create quilts out of patterned paper, because I am definitely better with that 😉

The layout I made may be one of my favorites – because it includes a quilt design, lots and lots of color and a ton of patterned paper. I am loving how this one turned out and really focuses on the gorgoeus papers included in the kits this month!

I simply assembled all m background “peels” and stuck them down. I knew I didn’t want to cover up a whole lot of the papers with my photo so I took a baby one – it’s 1,5″ x 1,5″ and adhered it right in the center of my design – turns out to be the perfect space, because I was missing one quilt design piece so I just left the center blank and placed the picture on top. No one will ever know – so you need to keep this a secret! 😉

The Amy Tangerine Thicker phrases also come with some cute accents like hearts, which I used to cluster around my photo and somehow draw the eye there.
I really wanted my background design be the focus of the page and so I used some embellishments for the color on color technique and kept it easier for the eye rather than creating huge clusters of embellishments, covering up the design.

I thought about stitching down each individual circle, but LOVE the dimension it gives by just attaching the center part – for sure not a layout to be kept in an album. I think it is time to rearrange my layouts in my room 😉

Happy crafting and until next time,

xo, Laureen
