Today, I am capturing the good times with a Whimsical layout featuring a snapchat photo, a mixed media cut file and lots of layering!

My layout actually started with a piece of white cardstock that I had added some mixed media work with the Prima Confections watercolors from the May 2017 Color Kit which I had discarded from a previous layout as it just didn’t work.   I really loved the colours so I cut out the ‘Hot Air Balloon’ from the May Hip Kit Cut files designed by Kim Watson.  I then backed this cut file on the amazing Dear Lizzy Up & Away Ombre patterned paper and this became the basis of my layout.

Using a cut file as a central focus on your layout gives you a great platform for embellishing – I just love how fun the cut file is so I wanted to add in some fun embellishing too.  I started with fussy cutting out the ‘Capture the Good Times’ from the Pink Fresh Studio Dream on patterned paper.  I specifically chose this phrase as the photo of my daughter with a snapchat filter on was taken whilst we were recently in Hospital with her with pneumonia and she was feeling a bit better at this point so I wanted to reflect that in my title.

I then added lots of embellishing with the ephemera from both Shimelle Little By Little collection from the May 2017 Project Life Kit and the Hip Kit Exclusive ephemera designed by Kimberly from the May 2017 Main Kit.  These two sets work so well together don’t you think!
