SWEET HEART LOVE – CENTRAL DESIGN LAYOUT – RENAE BOWELL

Hey Lovelies, Nae here back with my very first layout and process video for you. I have been so patient waiting for my HKC box of goodness flying across the oceans to reach me here in Australia. When I opened that box, Oh My Goodness, inspiration over flow!! So many amazingly beautiful products, I had absolutely no idea where to start.

So, to get started with my first design here on the team and my very first Hip Kit ever! I decided to stick to a layout format that I generally use. I love central designs with nice bold fonts. The gorgeous paper by Shimelle’s Little By Little collection was just screaming to be fussy cut and used as a focal point on a layout. All of those beautiful bold words, the typography lover within me was singing from the rooftops.

I love to centre my layouts in the middle third. I am sure most of you have heard about the rule of thirds in some kind of design in your lives but if you haven’t, divide you layout into three equal rectangles, that middle rectangle is where I like to focus my designs. If you work in thirds on your layout, include embellishments in three clusters on your page, you will always be able to achieve a balanced design layout.

Another feature of my layouts are soft layers like doilies and polka dot tulle but I also love adding in white die cuts to add a little bit of interest. I am a huge lover of white on white on white in my designs but today I decided to do something a little different and use the pretty pastels in the Cardstock Add On. The soft mint green is just so beautiful and still adds that pretty soft layer but in just a slightly different hue. The cut file I am using is one of the wonderful March cut files, designed by the beautiful Jana, You and Me. The vines and leaves in this cut file are just divine and are something I use a lot in my designs.

When creating embellishment clusters between my layers behind my photo, I love mixing textures as well as colour. The beautiful gloss of the Shimelle sticker sheet, the dimension of the rubber charms, the softness of the Pinkfresh Studio Puffs and the leather like textures from the Pinkfresh Leatherette Stickers, all come together to create more interest and dimension without cluttering up my page with big bulky icons. I tend to stick to smaller embellishments, that tend to work with the colour scheme already decided in my designs.

Finally, here is a little process video to share with you how the layout all came together. Like I said, working with the blues and greens was a completely different experience for me. As much as I loved creating this layout, Ill be back next week with a more pink layout.

Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my first ever Design Team Project. I would love to see your rule of thirds or centred layouts using these beautiful March Kits. Jump over to the Facebook group to share yours!! I can’t wait to see them all!

Love you guys,

Love always,

Nae xoxo
