Hey everyone, Raquel Bowman here today with a new layout using the beautiful January kits and exclusive cut files. This week my baby girl had her first day of Kinder. This is quite a milestone event here in Aus so I was itching to get this photo documented. I was planning on adding a lot of journaling to the layout documenting all the ‘mummy feels’ however, once I started playing with the products I sort of ran out of room! Luckily, being a Mummarazzi I took plenty of photos so I will create another layout to contain the thoughts and feelings behind this special day.
To create this layout I made a feature of the gorgeous January exclusive butterfly cut file. I just loved this cut file as soon as I saw it and thought it was the perfect one for this story. I actually cut this file twice – once on vellum and once on white card stock from the card stock add on. I then traced the design onto the Pink Paislee patterned paper and hand cut around it. I could have cut the outline of the file on my silhouette but I added it as an afterthought.
To add a beautiful touch of dimension I stitched them together at the centre of the butterflies and folded the areas of the wings inwards. I love the softness this brings and the pops of pink and coral coming through the wings of the butterflies.
For the title of this page I used the exclusive veneer piece from the Main Kit and backed the ‘dreams’ part of it with the same Pink Paislee Moonstruck paper that I used behind the butterfly cut file.
To embellish the page I used a combination of products. I just love the Hazelwood collection by American Crafts that is featured in these kits. I included some of the stickers and also the butterfly rub ons. I placed the rub ons onto plain card stock and then fussy cut them out to turn them into die cuts.
There was an exclusive paper that had the most beautiful florals. I fussy cut those out and placed them either side of the photo. Of course I had to add some more butterflies and hearts to the embellishment clusters too.
I added two patterned papers behind the photo and a doily from my stash. The papers help tie in that blue and pink colour palette. I also added strips down the side of the whole layout, just to help balance the page a little. It is very busy compared to my usual style.
To finish the page I added a touch of Heidi Swapp Colour Shine. I hope this page has inspired you to get creating with your January kits and the cut files.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today,
Raquel xxx
Super Pretty! I love how popular butterflies are this year. I just love them.
