Happy Tuesday! Kelly here today sharing my second layout using the 2016 October Hip Kits.

I started my layout with one of the Simple Stories Posh pattern papers that is available in the Main Kit. It is full of color but I needed a large solid place for my photo to land. My photo is sized at 4×6 and has a sepia tone so I wanted a bold background to add contrast between the papers and the photo. I cut apart the Posh pattern paper and pieced in the American Crafts Stargaze Cardstock that is included in the Cardstock Kit.

I created a photo mat using one of the Project Life cards in the Project Life Kit, a scrap of white cardstock, and a piece of vellum. I really wanted my photo to be the focus of the layout and to include a lot of white space. White space doesn’t necessarily have to be “white”, but rather empty space on the layout so your eyes are drawn to the photo.

After the photo mat was complete I started clustering my embellishments around the photo. I used multiple stickers from the We R Memory Keepers Honey I’m Home sticker sheet & enamel dots that are included in the Project Life Kit. I also added a chipboard feather from the Simple Stories Posh Collection & ephemera from the We R Memory Keepers ephemera pack included in the Embellishment Kit.  I added the title from the Pink Paislee-Take Me Away Phrase Sticker Sheet that is included in the Main Kit.

I wanted to add a few more touches of pink so I cut multiple leaves from the October Leaves HKC Exclusive Cut File and used the Crushed Coral Texturez that is included in the October 2016 Color Kit to add texture and color to the white cardstock. I wanted to add a little more visual interest to the leaves so I splattered the Great Fruit Creameez, that was included in the September 2016 Color Kit. I love how the color kits complement each other month after month!
