Maximise your Clusters | Kim Watson

Hey everyone, Kim here today with a new layout using the gorgeous May Kits. Inspired by the fun floral paper from Bella Boulevard, I designed a linear, yet organic feeling page layout using INTERESTING clusters. The way they are positioned creates movement around the page helping the reader to ultimately end up at the photo.

This is the result:

The floral strip grounds the whole design, anchoring the rest of the elements. And even though busy, don’t you love how the MIXTURE of patterns work so well together? I think the different heights of the different layers, help the design breathe.

The chipboard frames from Simple Stories come in the best sizes & designs. They are a quick & effective way to add DIMENSION & interest to any page. I used three frames in three different ways. One hold the photo, one hold my journaling & one creates a cute cluster, balancing the page perfectly. This frame also anchors the left hand page cluster.

Don’t you love the tiny confetti pattern shown above? It was cut from one of the Jillibean Soup journal cards, layered with a chipboard frame, some ephemera die-cuts, wood veneer & a sentiment from the exclusive cut-a-apart sheet, resulting in this fabulous cluster accent. The faux ‘washi tape’ was cut from another journal card & patterned paper.

A secondary title/ journaling was added using the ADORABLE wooden word-fetti from Jillibean Soup. I think they are by far the coolest embellishment I have see this year & hope they bring out more, with different themes.

Lastly the title…come on, admit that these alphas from the May Kits are AMAZING! The talented Kimberly Hutchinson designed them. I could have them in every color..hint*hint!

So I urge you to try creative clustering on your next page. They are fun & a great way to experiment with layering, especially when there are so many amazing bits to work with in the Hip Kit Club kits.

Thanks for joining me today! Until next time.
