Celebrating Dad and This Week “Before The Pen”

Hello Hip Kit Fans! Anita here and I’m back today with two new projects. We’re celebrating Dads this week at Hip Kit Club so I created a Project Life spread celebrating my Dad to include in my album. My Dad and I have a very special relationship and I don’t often document our bond so I’m happy to have these pages complete. We’ve been through a lot over the years. We lost my Mom to a grueling battle with cancer over 13 years ago and have experienced many ups and downs since. I’m comforted knowing that my Dad is there to love, support and encourage me (and my husband) even when times are tough and I hope that my husband and I provide him with the same.

To create this spread, I went through years of photos and selected a few to print and place in my page protectors. As you can see, some of the photos are very old and not the best quality but I like to think of them as “vintage” treasures. It was fun to mix old and new photos and see the changes over the years across the two pages. (And, yes, that’s me as a baby and little girl!)

I used the exclusive Hip Kit Project Life cards. Simple Stories clear stickers and Simple Stories alphabet from the Project Life Kit along with the exclusive puffy stickers from the Embellishment Kit to create these pages. I then added some typed journaling to finish off the spread. It’s simple but I love how it turned out! Here are a couple of close up shots:

The second project I’m sharing today is my “before the pen” planner spread for this week. Basically, I set up and decorated my weekly spread and am sharing the foundation before I fill it in with my appointments and to-do lists. I love that there are so many elements in the June 2016 Hip Kits that are very planner friendly. Lots of flat stickers, alphas and die cuts that can be incorporated into any kind of planner. I used the fun Project Life Currently Edition die-cuts from the Embellishment Kit as the main decorative elements for my spread and added some of the Simple Stories Carpe Diem clear stickers and Simple Stories alphabet stickers from the Project Life Kit to create some “functional” space where I can write in my lists and appointments. Again, another simple project but it makes it fun to look at my planner and may even keep me motivated to get things done!

Do you decorate your planner? If so, what are your favorite supplies? I’d love to see your examples and would love to see how you incorporate your Hip Kits into your weekly and/or monthly planning!
