Hey there, friends! Happy Tuesday 🙂 Missy here with another layout using the 2015 April Hip Kits! I’ve been wanting to use this gorgeous green wood grain paper from the Main Kit, and finally did. It just screams “TROPICAL” to me, so I scrapped a photo of my husband and I in St. Lucia back in 2003. It’s such a lush and gorgeous island, so this paper and bright embellishments were perfect. I wanted that green background to shine, so I did minimal mixed media on it. I just added a bit of white gesso and some blue gelatos to add some pops of bright blue. I also used the Prima Watercolor Pencils from the Color Kit on the Heidi Swapp dotted watercolor card behind my photo and also on the wood veneer that says LOVE.
I wanted to use lots of embellishments on this page, which includes the beautiful Thickers. I wanted to add in the place where we were, so I layered it a bit under this paper. The wood veneer did a wonderful job of taking the watercolor…I was excited that it turned out so bright!
Here you can see the watercolor on the Heidi Swapp card. I cut it diagonally to add behind my photo just change things up. I also added in a few of those Crate Paper flower sequins around the page and a few of the Elle’s Studio wood veneer word arrows. I backed them with vellum to they would stand out more. I opted to leave them the plain wood color because when I think of tropical, I think of nature, and wood is part of nature 🙂
A close up of the right side…more bright blue, wood veneer, paper, die cuts and an epoxy puffy sticker. I love how all of these products layer so beautifully!
One final look at the top…I added in some blue stitching, an Elle’s Studio word sticker and a cut apart card from the Webster’s Pages paper.
I hope this inspires you in some way! I did film the process of this layout, so I hope you enjoy the video!
