Happy Friday!!! It has been a good week so far. I have found some time to scrap a bit over the past couple of days – which has been so much fun. I have two layouts to share with you today that I created with our amazing December 2012 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits.
I love the Amy Tangerine die cuts included in this kit!!! When I opened the Amy Tangerine die cuts, I absolutely loved the little camera – and I think it worked perfectly on my layout. I also used the heart, and a tab from that same pack to give detail to my page.
The red heart patterned paper was a little to bold for my page, so I toned it down by putting a swatch of it inside a glassine bag. This kept that bold color and pattern from overwhelming my layout. I also wanted to repeat a few more red elements on my page… so I added a red button, and some baker’s twine from the main kit, a red opaque gem (from our December Embellishment Add-On Kit, and a little bit of red and white grid washi tape from my stash. I also machine stitched around the edges of each strip with red thread. I think the red accents give a “POP” of color and some contrast to my page. I used a blue chalk ink pad to color the “remember” wood veneer. Chalk ink has a more opaque creamy color that regular dye ink, and it has better coverage and dries more quickly than paint and mist. I repeated aqua accents with a couple of buttons and a decorative border strip. The tag from the Pebbles Seen & Noted Journaling Cards (from our Embellishment Add-On Kit) worked perfectly for my title. I loved the little polka dot arrows from the Seen & Noted Favorites paper. However, the entire sheet was a little too busy for me. So, I used a 5/8” circle punch and punched out several of the polka dots and placed them randomly on the background of my layout. To add a little extra detail, I machine stitched along the top of each one. The red & white polka dot pennant banner was one of the precut sheets from the Seen & Noted Journaling Card pad. Each of the pages in that pad have a small pattern on the back side. It needed the banner to be a little longer. I cut the banner in half and hid the gap behind the blue cardstock. This is a great trick if your scrap isn’t quite bit enough. The ampersand was one of the Amy Tangerine die cuts. It needed something to make it stand out – so I outlined it with a black journaling pen. Also, the punched yellow polka dots kept the yellow ampersand from looking out of place. The red and white polka dot border was one of the UPC strips from the Seen & Noted Remember Paper. It is amazing how much impact a little strip of paper can give a project. :D This page is really simple… made up of several bits and pieces. I would love to see what you do with a few extra embellishments and some scraps from your Hip Kit. You can share your project with us by posting it on our FACEBOOK page.
I hope my layouts have inspired you to do some scrapping of your own soon. Make sure to stop by tomorrow for another collection of projects created with our December 2012 Hip Kit. xo – Kimberly – |
Great stuff. Way to use the kit’s contents and add-ons. I’ve just recently found Amy Tangerine. And while I really don’t love pink, I still LOVE her stuff. I like the paper in the glassine bag, and baker’s twine is awesome!
