Tutorial: Stack Those Layers | February 2026 Hip Kits | with Jana Eubank

If you love a layout that is packed with beautiful layers, pattern mixing, and all the gorgeous details, then you are going to absolutely love what Jana Eubank created with the February 2026 Hip Kits! Jana‘s layout is called “Coupeville” and it is a stunning example of how to stack layers of pattern papers, die cuts, and stickers to create a page that feels rich and full of interest without being overwhelming. She is using the exclusive Life Right Now collection, which is only available right here at Hip Kit Club, and she walks you through every single layer so you can recreate this look on your own pages.

Want to create layouts like this? Our monthly kits include coordinated papers, embellishments, and supplies to bring your scrapbook pages to life.

Jana pulls from the February 2026 Cardstock Kit and the February 2026 Main Kit (with Patterned Paper) to build this layout from the ground up. She starts with the cardstock kit’s reversible petal card stock and layers in pink chevron, dark blue floral, a bold stripe, and that gorgeous robin’s egg numbered pattern – all from the patterned paper collection. Then she piles on journaling die cuts, floral die cuts, puffy stickers, phrase strips, and the cutest little ephemera pieces to bring the whole thing together. If you have ever wondered how to get that lush, layered look on your scrapbook pages, Jana makes it so easy to follow along.

Step-by-Step Tutorial

Step 1: Build Your Cardstock Base

Step 1: Build Your Cardstock Base

Start by selecting the petal card stock from the February 2026 Cardstock Kit and flip it to the ledger side, which gives you a beautiful light lilac pattern. Cut that piece down slightly smaller than your page and round all four corners for a softer look. Then frame it by matting it onto the atmosphere light blue solid card stock. This two-tone base sets the color palette for your entire layout.

Step 2: Stack Pattern Papers Behind Your Photos

Step 2: Stack Pattern Papers Behind Your Photos

Mat your photos with the atmosphere light blue card stock to tie them to the base layer. Then cut pieces of the pink chevron and the dark blue small floral pattern paper to stack behind each photo. Skew the layers slightly at different angles from one another to create a playful, casual feel – it might look a little wild at first, but everything comes together once you start adding the rest of your elements.

Step 3: Add Strips Along the Bottom to Connect the Design

Step 3: Add Strips Along the Bottom to Connect the Design

Cut a strip of the robin’s egg numbered pattern and place it along the bottom of your page, rounding the two bottom corners to match your base layer. Then separate that strip from the layers above it with a piece of the bright and bold striped pattern paper. These horizontal strips ground the layout and give your eye a place to rest while connecting all those different patterns beautifully.

Step 4: Tuck in Journaling Die Cuts for Interest and Function

Step 4: Tuck in Journaling Die Cuts for Interest and Function

Grab the journaling die cuts from the Life Right Now collection and look for pieces with interesting shapes and edges. Jana cuts a decorative frame piece in half and places the two halves on either side of a photo to repeat that postage edge detail. She also tucks in a planner-style piece on the left and a binder clip piece on the right where she will later add her title and journaling. Scatter a few little ticket pieces near the bottom right corner to bring in more color.

Step 5: Sprinkle Floral Die Cuts for Balance and Whimsy

Step 5: Sprinkle Floral Die Cuts for Balance and Whimsy

Place floral die cuts around the edges of your journaling pieces to break up all those straight lines and add an organic feel. Start with a gold flower on the right side, then repeat that gold on the left to carry your eye across the page. Add blue flowers near the gold ones, and remember the rule of visual triangles – try to place each color in at least three spots so nothing feels lopsided. If a flower is too large, just cut it in half and use the pieces separately.

Step 6: Accent with Stickers and Layered Die Cuts

Step 6: Accent with Stickers and Layered Die Cuts

Add a black tab at the top of your photo cluster, then layer a puffy heart sticker on top of a gold circle die cut right next to it for a fun dimensional detail. Tuck a Polaroid camera die cut into the bottom left corner and place the circular “take 100% note of this” phrase nearby. These little accent pieces fill in the gaps and give the layout personality without competing with your photos.

Step 7: Layer in Phrase Strips and Puffy Stickers for Texture

Step 7: Layer in Phrase Strips and Puffy Stickers for Texture

Slide the cream “highly recommend this” phrase strip and the dark pink “doesn’t get sweeter” strip underneath the black tab to add a pop of color at the top. Along the bottom, place puffy phrase stickers like the teal “documented” under the camera and the gold “snapshots” nearby. The combination of flat phrase strips and dimensional puffy stickers creates a really satisfying mix of textures across the page.

Step 8: Spell Out Your Title and Add Finishing Touches

Step 8: Spell Out Your Title and Add Finishing Touches

Use the puffy alphabet stickers to spell out your title directly on the layout. Accent the title with a couple of layered heart stickers for a sweet finishing detail. Clip one of the adorable paper clips to the top of your page near the binder clip die cut, and place a small puffy circle dot as a final accent. Step back and admire all those gorgeous layers working together.
