Let’s Use Dies ON Layouts – Anya Lunchenko

Hello everyone! Anya’s here today and I am so excited to share another set of layouts I created recenty, this time using the August Hip Kit. HKC releases some of the most amazing dies every month! I challenged myself to use a die on each page spread I make. Let me share a few ideas with you.

Want to create layouts like this? Our monthly kits include coordinated papers, embellishments, and supplies to bring your scrapbook pages to life.

For this first layout I used the film strip die. It is one of my favorite dies and you’ll see me using it over and over again. Film strip itself reminds me of the past and time passing, therefore it goes with so many different themes. Here is a closer look at the right side of the page spread.

For the left side of the page spread, I fussy cut those colorful windows from one of the patterned papers in the kit and adhered them sideways with printed journaling on each one. The finishing touch here was a stamped phrase on each of the windows, using the Pinkfresh ink, included in the August Color kit.

For the next page I wanted to use the Boho Lace Boeder Die, but since I found a photo that worked better for this color combination, my plan changed and I didn’t end up using any of the dies. But I wanted to share a unique way to use one of the 4×6″ PL cards. By cutting the card into two pieces, It adds interest in design and created unity between two pages. I simply adore that plaid patterned paper and love how all of the colors came together here.

For the third page spread I used two different dies: the Stitchable Butterlies Die Set repeatedly, to create a flowing design on the left side of the layout; and the Torn Notebook Page Die to add the border. The butterflies were die cut from ombre paper from the July Cardstock Kit. I doubled some of the butterflies and arranged them from the lightest to darkest on the page.

My plan was to add hand stitching to each butterfly, but since there was already too much going on, I decided to leave them plain. I lobe that row of perfect tiny holes on each butterly and am sure these look great with or without stitching!

I hope you were inspired by todays’ projects and will find some creative time this week. Thank you for visiting the HKC blog and I hope you will be back again soon for more inspiration!
