If you watched the video for my last Hip Kit Club layout, you know I was trying to get more than one use from the specialty number die-cut paper included with the Main Kit. On my previous page, I cut a circle from the number paper to use as a layer on my page. For today’s layout, I cut out one of the numbers to use as my page title. It was perfect for this layout about my daughter turning ’16’ and getting her driver’s license.
I am in love with the colors in this month’s kits. The sunburst ‘Shine Your Light’ paper includes all of them and I thought this would be a fun background paper to ‘celebrate’ my daughter’s special day. I used my sewing machine to stitch along the sun rays, alternating between straight stitches and zig-zag stitches.
I matted the photos with the 6×8 papers from the Pocket Life kit. Above the photos, I created a collage of chipboard and cardstock die-cuts surrounding the chipboard ‘Today’ word. The florals are so pretty, and I love the dimension the wood button stickers add.
I snipped the number ’16’ from the specialty die-cut paper, then doodled around the edge with a black pen to help the numbers stand out a bit more. When my husband took the photo of my daughter, he captured his own reflection in the windows of the Driver’s License building. I overlapped the number title onto the photo to cover up his reflection so that the focus would stay on my daughter since this page is about her special day.
I decorated the title with more florals, and a friendly little bird, then added a trio of tassels to the left.
This colorful layout was such a FUN way to document the day my daughter received her driver’s license when she turned 16. What are you documenting with YOUR September 2023 Hip Kits?
