Hello, friends! I’m Jana Eubank back with another layout using the June 2023 Hip Kits. Today I will show you how to add texture to your layouts with layering and stitching. Watch the video below for details!
One of the easiest ways to make your scrapbook pages more interesting is by layering in a variety of textures. On this layout, I used 7 different textures: paper, paint, puffy stickers, glitter stickers, acetate, stitching, and twine. Can you spot each one?
The title has lots of personality with three different textures, the dark blue puffy letters on the circle, the layered cardstock die-cut letters (June 2023 Alphabet Die) that are popped up with foam tape, and the gold glitter script word.
I fussy-cut a large chevron from the ‘Fly High’ paper and added it to the right side of the layout. I ruffled the edges with my fingers and then used my sewing machine to add a straight stitch along the printed pattern. A stitched border around the background adds even more detail.
Splattering gold acrylic paint (June 2023 Color Kit) mimics the mud from the four-wheeling picture (that’s the prettiest ‘mud’ I’ve ever seen!), but the slight sheen adds a different texture to the page as well.
The twine on the tags adds a soft, flowing element to the page design.
Tucked in between the fussy-cut flowers (Nature Lover paper) you will find acetate die-cuts and layered stickers/die-cuts. The glitter on the acetate die-cuts (Embellishment Kit) ties in with the gold glitter word from the title.
All of the shapes and textures made this layout a lot of fun to create, AND to look at!
